A treatment for heart disease.. Scientists discover new and exciting benefits of honey
A recent study conducted by Canadian scientists from the University of Toronto confirmed that adding honey to our daily diet has great benefits for cardiovascular health.
The study, whose results were published in the journal Nutrition Reviews, stated that honey improves cardiovascular health, and also contributes to controlling blood sugar and cholesterol levels. According to Sky News Arabia.
Among the findings of researchers in a series of clinical trials that they supervised, that eating honey lowers blood glucose during fasting, bad cholesterol, and triglycerides that cause fats to form on the liver.
The researchers also confirmed in their 18 experiments, in which 1,100 people participated, that honey raises the proportion of good cholesterol, and improves the body's resistance to infections.
According to the researchers, the benefits of honey stem from its complex composition of common and rare sugars, proteins, organic acids and biologically active compounds.
How much honey should we eat per day?
The study advised replacing sugar with honey, as this may reduce the metabolic risks on the heart.
Honey taken from a single source of flowers such as acacia and clover, is very beneficial compared to other types of honey.
Processed honey loses many of its health benefits after the pasteurization process.
The effect of a hot drink on raw honey depends on several factors, and it probably does not destroy all the beneficial properties of honey.
