The highest volcano in Kamchatka releases "bombs"

The Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences said that the Klyuchevskaya volcano had woken up from its slumber and started firing volcanic bombs, according to the agency "Novosti".

The source expects that torrents of fiery lava will soon erupt from this volcano, which is the highest active volcano in Eurasia.

On Sunday morning, the Kamchatka Geophysical Service reported that an earthquake of magnitude 5.7 occurred off the eastern coast of Kamchatka last night. “The eruptions began at the top of the Klyuchevskaya volcano, and it is currently experiencing individual firebomb emissions at a rate of up to 10 explosions per hour,” said Institute Director Alexei Ozerov. Because of the great depth of the cavity of this volcano - about 200 meters - only some of them can be seen at the edge. The rest is determined only by the glow above the crater.”

According to scientists, the eruption of the volcano will intensify later, and lava flows are expected, as well as the formation of mud flows that will cover the riverbeds in the area of the volcano.
